Keith Leclerc is our original founder and began his career in the jewelry and precious metals business 30 years ago as a coin and bullion dealer. Two years after beginning his business, Johnson Matthey approached him about being a distributor of gold chains and jewelry. This venture brought about rapid growth and led to the addition of Carlos Urena as a partner in the business. Together they formed KMA Sunbelt Trading Corporation, a wholesaler of gold and fine jewelry.

As their business grew, they were able to establish strategic worldwide partnerships to cut and manufacture diamonds in Brazil and Israel. This led to further growth and KMA quickly became a highly competitive distributor of finer loose diamonds and colored gemstones from Belgium, Russia, and Israel.  

In 1990, as the wholesale business accelerated and expanded even further across the globe, the first retail showroom was opened…the International Diamond Center in Clearwater, Florida.  For the first time, the vast wholesale inventory of KMA was made available directly to the public and the foundational business model of the company was laid:  buy direct, eliminate the middleman and pass the savings on to the consumer.  This philosophy, combined with an unwavering commitment to integrity, has resulted in International Diamond Center becoming the largest independent jeweler in the southeast with seven retail locations.
